Boy, if this were only true! What a story or ending to this saga
‘The suspicion is HARVARD’S ex-President Gay was allowed to stay in her tenured position, because Harvard feared what would come out in discovery when she unjustifiably sued (although not stupid given the poker chips she clearly holds given her obvious knowledge of all the crap Harvard has pulled).
Make the simplifying assumption that since this process started, the Harvard Corp was surrounded by capable counsel, and nothing that was part of this process, and that could be documented, would expose them. Therefore, they must be worried about things that happened prior to this process starting.

Gay was only there for 6 months, but probably in that time also accumulated knowledge about a fair bit of things that occurred there prior to her role as president, as well as things that occurred during her role as president. Here are a few guesses:
-Their active plans to circumvent the recent ruling by the Supreme Court about merit based admissions. As well as what they did prior to the Supreme Court ruling that would expose them
-Their dealings with China, especially when they were on the receiving end of money
-Other political activity w regard to our own national politics and policies

This begs the question, if they are so worried about these things becoming public, why are they doing them in the first place? Old rule of thumb, if you are embarrassed to read about it in the papers, you ought not be doing it.
This also means the whole Board there is aware of the garbage they have been pulling, likely for a long time, and is complicit. Which also means they should be terminated. As they say, the cover-up is always worse than the crime.
What should happen next is either Congressional subpoena’s to force this all into the sunlight, or a lawsuit by an aggrieved party (perhaps someone denied admission or kicked out of school for plagiarism under a different standard applied to Gay), where the same discovery process happens that Harvard feared with Gay.
